Tomas et Sofia vivent à Montréal depuis longtemps, mais Sofia est nostalgique de l’Amérique latine. Un jour, ils se lient d'amitié avec Luisa et Mariano, arrivés ici récemment et qui se sentent à la dérive.

Following an impressive turn out at its screening at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Santiago RuizTorres' film Sudden Flashes of Light will be premiering at the 30th anniversary of FIFA.
The International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) is a non-profit organization devoted to the promotion and presentation of the finest productions on art and media art. An eleven-day competitive festival, it is the most important annual event of its kind in the world. FIFA has become a focal point for artists and artisans from the art and film communities, as well as for art and cinema enthusiasts.

On the Way to the Sea is turning out to be a bit of a festival favourite - and we couldn't be prouder of Tao! His film received a special mention at the RVCQ Festival.
We'll never get tired of congratulating our amazing team for their fantastic work.

From February 15-26th, the 30th edition of Les Rendez-Vous de Cinema Quebecois took place in Montreal. We're proud to announce (okay, ecstatic!) that four of our films were shown at this year's festival. In addition, Aonan Yang's film Une Chanson D'Hiver was screened during the Programme Suggestion du Chef. Another accolade for Aonan!
Our overall success at the RVCQ this year pleased us so much, we threw a party to celebrate all our filmmakers, partners, supporters, and colleagues. We want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate with us!

Aonan Yang's Une Chanson D'Hiver (A Winter Song) received the Movieola Best Short Film award at the Reel Asian International Film Festival in Toronto, held in November 2011. The Movieola award provides Aonan's film the opportunity for broadcast on the Movieola channel. Congratulations, Aonan!

GreenGround is proud to announce that Tao Gu's film, On the Way to the Sea, has won 3 new awards at film festivals around the world!
The film won Best Director's Award af the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival - Curta Cinema 2011, as well as winning the international competition at the Cortopotere short film festival 2011, and finally winning the Grand Prix at the Signes De Nuit film festival..

Tao Gu's film wins special jury prize at the Clermont Ferrand short film fest (14-02-11)
On the Way to the Sea has won the Special Jury Prize at the Clermont Ferrand short film festival. Up against heavy competition, the Grand Prix went to legendary Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin and the public's prize went to Belgium's Oscar-nominated film Suiker.

Producer Aonan Yang selected by Telefilm Canada to attend fest (18-01-11)
GreenGround's producer Aonan Yang has been selected by Telefilm Canada to attend the 61st Berlinale, Berlin's international film fest. He will be there to finance Jacquelyn Mills' project The Old Woman and the Wave.

GreenGround has wrapped shooting on Andreas' Mendritzki's film Sanctuaire. Acclaimed stage and screen actor Gabriel Arcand stars. Post production is underway for a 2011 release.

Special film screening event at the NFB Theatre: Monday, January 11th at 7h30pm. (05/01/10)
GreenGround Productions and the Foreground Filmmakers Collective will be presenting the best 35mm prints to come out of Concordia's Mel Hoppenheim School of cinema in recent years. The free screening event will consist of a program of short films produced by Concordia students, professors and alumni – all projected on 35mm.
Admission is free, however, Montreal documentary filmmaker and member of the Foreground collective Irene Boleda will be on hand to raise funds for her latest project, Carnavaleando, which is to be shot later this year in Argentina.
The screening is set for 7:30 pm at the NFB theatre, 1564 St. Denis Street, Montreal. It will be followed by an after-party at a nearby location to the theatre.

This documentary will follow the lives of two young Argentine women, Paula Acreche and Celiana Spaventa. As part of the “post dictatorship” middle class, they have decided to return to Argentina after living abroad for many years. The film will travel with these passionate and extroverted women as they seek to reconnect with their cultural heritage and search for their place in Argentina’s present day. With this motivation in mind, the Paula and Celiana will participate in the annual pre-harvest Carnaval spanning Northwestern Argentina.

We are actively looking for co-production and distribution opportunites for feature length projects such as The Old Woman and the Wave, directed by Jacquelyn Mills or The May Flower by Tao Gu. We will be in Toronto from September 9th-20th.
The Chicago International Children's Film Festival welcomes two GreenGround Productions (05/08/09)
Fear of Snakes by Andreas Mendritzki and My Name is Tuan by Nguyen-Anh Nguyen were invited to the 26th Chicago International Children's Film Festival, North America's largest and most celebrated film festival devoted to films for and by kids - and the only oscar-qualifying children's film festival in the world. They will be attending the event between October 26th and November 1st.
